Captivating portrait of a woman with deep shadow and colorful flowers in Barranquilla.

Christians Must Always Be On Guard And Faithful That God Will Protect Them

His Little Flower

The earth is overgrown

and the blades of grass look like thieves in the night;

like armed robbers under the moon…

It unsteadies my soul

but I have to remind myself I know

the One who protects me all the days long;

even when the sun is gone

But it’s hard… Keeping the faith

when those blades of grass catch your gaze

and the shadows dance deceptively,

twisting your mind in agony.

I know the devil prowls around like a lion,

so when the earth is overgrown like this,

how am I to see him coming?

It’s like the blades of grass are really

his legion of demons in disguise…

I shiver

as the wind wisps through my leaves and petals,

leaving me feeling naked and bare.

Night time is always scariest

even with the light of the moon.

It’s just enough light to ward off complete darkness,

yet also just enough to play games with your mind…

But after every night fall, comes a sunrise

and my lungs heave their first real breath

and I let out a sigh as my eyes adjust to the light of day.

But I remember, that evil can prevail even in the day,

so I do not let my guard fully down, for I must

always be on guard against the devil and his schemes.

And I must always keep the faith of the God who holds me…

For He does hold me in the palm of His hands

because I’m His little flower in these wastelands.

BLADES OF GRASS ARE LIKE THIEVES IN THE NIGHT

The comparison here is that the grass is overgrown, and that grass is the people who follow the ways of this world or perhaps even satan’s demons. The overgrowth makes it feel as though you’re all alone in the midst of a million evil things; as if you’re a flower in a wasteland.

WHERE ARE THE CHRIST BELIEVERS?

It feels as though none exist anymore and you’re all alone. But I think it’s because the evil people are LOUD and christians are called to have quiet and gentle spirits… So we’re not as loud and proud about ourselves. But the unbelievers are loud and proud of their sin and evil ways, so we see and hear them all the time. Where as the Christians are “hiding.”

Personally, I feel as though Christians need to be louder about CHRIST, and many are becoming louder and Christ is becoming more heard, which is nice.

While we’re called to have quiet and gentle spirits, I think that more means meekness and kindness and love, rather than being proud and boastful. But LOUD is NOT the same as being proud and boastful. Loud is just being glad and joyful in our God..

THE DEVIL PROWLS AROUND LIKE A LION

“I know the devil prowls around like a lion,

so when the earth is overgrown like this,

how am I to see him coming?

It’s like the blades of grass are really

his legion of demons in disguise…”

The devil slithers his way around looking for prey to devour. And he’s sneaky too. Which is why it can be extremely hard when we feel all alone in the world. One: we are not alone. And two: we are called to always be prepared for any kind of attack.

1. We are not alone. God is with us.

Though it can feel like a wasteland of lost souls, and you’re the only flower blooming all alone, you are not alone in the world. God is ALWAYS with you.

This poem was to express the sorrow and despair one feels when they’re feeling attacked by the devil and his demons. There are moments of despair and hopelessness and sorrow and grief in every believers life. Those moments cause us to question our beliefs and either weaken or strengthen our faith. Sometimes both happens. Sometimes our faith weakens and we fall into the traps of the devil; we sin and break into pieces. AND THEN, at rock bottom, in the pit of death, our faith strengthens, because we have nothing to turn to except God. Which is who we should have turned to in the beginning, but this life is a series of lessons and trials. And God knows that. He knows the beginning and the end, which is why He still stays and waits for us to turn back to Him. He is always with you.

2. We must always be prepared.

We – Christians – are called to always be prepared and sober, covered with the armour of God, with His Word written on our hearts, so that we may be able to defend ourselves against the devil and his demons and the unbelievers of this world.

Even though God protects us, we are still called to be prepared, so that we may win the arguments and taunts of satan, when he comes to us with half truths (half LIES) or when he uses our doubts or struggles against us.

What is the armour or God? (Ephesians 6: 14-17)

  • The belt of TRUTH buckled around your waist
  • The breastplate of RIGHTEOUSNESS is place
  • Your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the GOSPEL OF PEACE.
  • The shield of FAITH, which can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
  • The helmet of SALVATION
  • The sword of the SPIRIT, which is the Word of God.

“…With this is mind, BE ALERT and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.” Ephesians 6:18

LIGHT OF DAY & LIGHT OF GOD

God holds you in the palm of His hand. You are His precious child – His precious flower. He wants only the best for you. He wants to protect you and keep you safe.

BUT, if you step out of His arms – as you reach for sin – you are choosing death as you walk yourself straight into the lions den (Satan’s trap).

The REAL light is the light of God. Stay lit with His light within your mind, heart and soul, so you may endure the darkness with HIS strength and power. Unfortunately your life will continuously be a fight within the overgrown grass (unbelievers and demons) of this world, but that’s why the Lord KEEPS you where you are. So you may be the beautiful flower that emits His light, love and grace to everyone around you… So you may show the power and glory of God… And maybe even save some souls in the meantime.

So be HIS LITTLE FLOWER and stand firm and steadfast in the palm of His hand. Endure patiently and faithfully until the day you get to bloom eternally in the Garden of Eden (Heaven).

God bless you my fellow flower in the wasteland. Remember, you are not alone!
