Are You Truly Willing To Submit To The Lord?

“If I hold onto choices of any kind, just because they are my choice, if I give any room to my private likes and dislikes, then I know nothing of Calvary love.

-Amy Carmichael, IF

Coming to Christ and obeying Him are two different things. When we first come to Christ we are over thrilled and excited for this new life with Him. But then our other beliefs get in the way of following His will…

In my early twenty’s I had an abortion. I suffered immensely; I suffered more than anyone should in their life. I felt like I was dying, because in a way, a part of me was.

When I came to Christ, it was actually through the repentance of this sin. I DID NOT hold onto this choice I made, just because I made it. When I finally realized the sincerity and seriousness of my choice, I felt more remorse than ever before. Because not only did I know I killed my child, but I also killed a child of God, and I sinned against God, my Father.

I have never been more repentant in my life.

And I was saved. God forgave me, He washed me with His blood, and He washed me with His peace.

A life with Christ is not one where we continue in our old ways. No, no, no. This new life is one of humility. We are called to change our ways, to follow Christ, and allow Him to renew our minds — transform our old beliefs. We are called to obey His commands.

In a true and proper life with Christ, one does not submit to their fleshly passions, desires, and beliefs.

In a true and proper life with Christ, one seeks to understand the will of the Lord, and to follow it with love.

“Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.”

Isaiah 5:20
