“A Thousand Tomorrow’s” by Karen Kingsbury, Pureflix Movie Review

A Thousand Tomorrow’s is based on a Karen Kingsbury book with the same title. Instead of making it into a movie, they actually turned it into a short, 6 episodes, mini-series.

I have yet to read the book, but it is on order, so when I do, I will be adding that review into this one. But for now, this is the “mini-series” review:

A Thousand Tomorrow’s touches on many basic and main themes of life: anger, loss, fear, faith, sickness, health, death, and love. This story follows the lives of Cody and Ali. Cody is a champion bull rider and Ali is a barrel racer. Cody is known for his womanizing ways and Ali is a sweet, church-going gal… Two people who seem to be the furthest away from perfect for each other, yet somehow make their way together…

As soon as Cody began “per-suing” Ali, he didn’t seem to be interested in anybody else. Oh, the powers of love. I remember I felt the exact same way when I met my husband. It was as if, even though I didn’t consciously know it, my heart and soul somehow knew he was the one. I didn’t need or want anyone else around me, ever again… Love is a funny thing.

While this series had an undertone of Christianity, I felt as though it maybe could have had more… Maybe perhaps having Cody come around more deeply than he did, however, it wasn’t terrible. It definitely shared some good and comforting aspects of the gospel. Not touching on Jesus Christ, but touching on God and Heaven and such.

It’s tough to really say anything, without giving too much away. So I’ll leave you with this:

Ali has a severe health condition where riding makes her worse. Cody finds out and has to decide whether he loves her enough to stick around.

For anyone who knows the tv show Under the Dome and the movie We Bought A Zoo, then you may be familiar with the name and actor Colin Ford. He plays Cody. And he does a fabulous job… For me, growing up with a crush on him, and then seeing that he ended up in the good side of the industry and quoting Philippians 4:13 in his instagram profile, it was nice to see him play in a role such as this.

The acting was incredible by not just Colin Ford, but by all of the cast. And we all know that when the acting is good, it makes the show that much more enjoyable to watch.

I highly recommend watching this series. And I’ll let you know what I think of the book soon!
