Tangled Roots
Why have you placed me with the vipers?
Why have you placed me with the weeds?
Lord, why am I here?
I thought you planted good seeds?
“My dear, don’t be weary
Don’t worry about the weeds
You know I am with you;
I will provide you with all of your needs…
I know you must be uncomfortable;
This situation may not be what you want
But it is what you need, my child,
So you may turn away from Satan’s taunts…
If I chose to help you now
And removed the weeds from you too early,
I could risk uprooting you;
removing you from your faith completely…
I keep you planted until the day of harvest
So that you may fully bloom
And perhaps turn some weeds to flowers
For in my Kingdom, there is lots of room…
Thus, be happy, be joyful
Be glad, and at peace
Get to work, my child
Spread my love and do not cease.”
A Flower Tangled In The Weeds
Do you ever feel like you’re the only Christian woman around; like you’re all alone in a world of unbelievers? Maybe it’s just me…
Anyway, that’s what I mean when I ask “Why have you placed me with the vipers? Why have you placed me with the weeds?” The vipers and weeds are the unbelievers and evil people of the world.
It’s not fun feeling like you’re the only Christian woman in the room. But sometimes it’s just a prideful view of the world. You think you’re better than others, even other Christians. But that’s not true. You’re just as sinful in the Lord’s eyes.
But even still, you can feel like a flower in the wasteland; like a flower disappearing in the weeds; like you have been forsaken in the wilderness to be consumed by the evil, dark spirits of this world.
It’s wearisome. It’s uncomfortable. It’s honestly just terrible.
But maybe we need to be placed with the weed — the unbelievers — because they bring up reasonable doubts and questions we may have about our faith. They whisper the lies of Satan all around us, causing us to have to be more reliant and faithful in God and His Word.
Perhaps He keeps us with the weeds because without the bad, we can’t see the good — the GOOD of our God. Perhaps He wants us to see the opposite of what we are called to be, so that we can choose righteousness and grow, rather than wither away before harvest time.
Sometimes we feel devoured by the weeds and the ways of the world, and we ask God for an out. We ask Him to please just let us go to Heaven NOW. We pray for Heaven because we feel as though we can’t live this life anymore. But He CAN’T give us what we want; He CAN’T bring us to Heaven now, because we’re not ready to be harvested. He can’t even take out the weeds because our roots are all entangled.
So what then?
Dispersing The Message Of God
God has planted us where we are and has KEPT us there because He has chosen us to share His Gospel with the weeds — the unbelievers — around us. He is relying on us to be good and proper and holy disciples of Christ. He is commanding us to be happy, joyful, glad, and peaceful. He is commanding us to spread His love, kindness, grace, and mercy.
Ultimately, unbelievers are just hurting people, needing the grace and mercy of God in their lives… And what helps me to remember this is to remember back to the time when I was an unbeliever. I was a hurting person, needing help. I needed to feel heard, seen, LOVED. I needed lots of grace and forgiveness, and kindness and mercy. I needed a flower to spread it’s seed over to me and extend it’s roots of grace — sharing God’s grace and love with me.
And perhaps YOU are flower planted in the weeds to help transform them into flowers too; perhaps YOU are the vessel in which to reach some unbelievers. Perhaps YOU are a messenger of God’s grace, God’s mercy, God’s forgiveness and kindness.
If you’re feeling like this blog is hitting the nail on the head of your feelings, then you are a beautiful flower of Christ. You are a flower with strong roots founded in Christ, and those roots are strong enough to withstand the weeds and the vipers and the enemies. So stand strong for Christ. Stand steadfast for His Kingdom. Do NOT be weary. And do NOT cease in spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ to all.
Day of Harvest
This will be the day the Lord calls you Home. Everyone’s day is different, but everyone’s day is blessed.
I can’t wait until the day the Lord has harvested all of His flowers, bringing them to the Garden of Eden (Heaven) for all of eternity.
I hope — and can’t wait — to see you there.
May God bless your tangled roots to be strong, powerful and mighty. May He bless you to blossom and bloom beautifully. May He help you to spread His message to the weeds; planting seeds everywhere you go. May God bless you abundantly my fellow flower in the wasteland (soon to be flower in the wonderful, magnificent, never-ending Garden of the Lord).
