“There is no hell after life. We’re living in hell right now.”
I used to believe that. And honestly, based on how many people live today, I understand why they say it. Life can feel dark, hopeless, chaotic, and full of pain. But I learned something that changed everything:
I wasn’t living in hell — I was creating my own “hell on earth” through sin; through stubbornness; through unbelief; through trying to live life without God. Because wherever God is not welcomed, hell begins.
But here’s the truth: We are not living in hell right now; trust me, hell is much worse than anything on this earth. Hell is a real place. Heaven is a real place. And eternity is far more serious than most people dare to think about.
YOU WERE CREATED FOR SOMETHING GREATER
God created you for big things — but the world hopes you never realize that.
Why? Because a world full of people who know their purpose, their value, and their Creator? That changes everything.
The world wants you numb and the enemy wants you blind. But God created you with intention and eternity in mind.
“As the new heavens and the new earth that I make will endure before Me… so will your name and descendants endure.”
— Isaiah 66:22
From Genesis to Revelation, God repeatedly shows us that Heaven is real; Hell is real; and your soul will live forever – in one of them.
JESUS HIMSELF SPOKE ABOUT HELL — CLEARLY AND REPEATEDLY
Hell is not a metaphor. It’s not a joke. It’s not “spiritual symbolism.”
Jesus warned about Hell more than anyone else in Scripture. And He didn’t warn us to scare us — He warned us to save us.
“Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.”
— Matthew 10:28
“This is how it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come and separate the wicked from the righteous and throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
— Matthew 13:49–50
“If your hand or foot causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life maimed or crippled than to have two hands or two feet and be thrown into eternal fire. And if your eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell.”
— Matthew 18:8-9
“Then he will say to this on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.’”
— Matthew 25:41
“Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”
— Matthew 25:46
“It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell.”
— Mark 9:47
Jesus also gives us one of the clearest pictures of Heaven and Hell in Luke 16:19–31 — the story of the rich man and Lazarus.
One man ends up in comfort, peace, and the presence of God. The other ends up in torment, begging for even a drop of water. A great chasm separates them — one that can never be crossed. The rich man says: “Please warn my family.” And Abraham replies: “If they won’t listen to the Scriptures, they won’t be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.”
AND IT’S TRUE. Jesus rose from the dead and still, many people won’t believe.
Not because there isn’t proof, but because they don’t want to change.
Paul echoes Jesus’ warnings:
“He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His might.”
— 2 Thessalonians 1:8–9
“If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God.”
— Hebrews 10:26-27
Lastly, Sodom and Gomorrah is a good physical example of what Hell might be like…
“Then the Lord rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah—from the Lord out of the heavens. Thus he overthrew those cities and the entire plain, destroying all those living in the cities—and also the vegetation in the land.”
— Genesis 19:24-25
“Though you already know all this, I want to remind you that the Lord at one time delivered his people out of Egypt, but later destroyed those who did not believe. And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their proper dwelling—these he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day. In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire.”
— Jude 5-7
Hell is the absence of God — for eternity. It’s separation from love, light, goodness, mercy, and hope — forever. It’s burning sulfur; destruction; eternal fire.
Hell is real — but so is Heaven.
HEAVEN IS NOT A FAIRY-TALE — GOD SHOWED US EXACTLY WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE
Scripture gives us vivid, consistent, powerful descriptions of the reality of Heaven:
“This is what the Lord says: ‘Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool…'”
— Isaiah 66:1
Stephen saw Heaven open with Jesus standing at the right hand of God:
“Look, I see heaven open and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!”
— Acts 7:55
John saw Heaven more clearly than anyone (all of Revelation is him in Heaven):
“After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven…”
— Revelation 4:1
“Then I saw ‘a new heaven and a new earth,’ for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ‘Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.’”
— Revelation 21:1–3
Heaven is not vague. Heaven is not symbolic. Heaven is described in such detail that God leaves us no room to doubt it.
ETERNITY IS TOO LONG TO BE WRONG
“Eternity” is not just a religious word. According to the Oxford Dictionary, “eternity” means: “infinite or unending time.”
Heaven is eternal; infinite; lasting for an unending time…
Hell is eternal; infinite; lasting for an unending time…
Your soul is eternal; infinite; lasting for an unending time…
So ask yourself: Where will YOU spend eternity?
It won’t be based on how “good” you were, or how spiritual you felt, or how strong your morals were. There’s only ONE requirement:
Believe in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior; who died on the cross for your sins and resurrected again, covering all who believe in Him with His righteousness.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
— John 3:16
A PRAYER FOR YOU
Dear Lord,
I pray for the person reading this right now.
I pray You soften their heart, Lord, opening their eyes, and silencing the lies of the enemy.
I pray they understand how loved they are, how wanted they are, and how real eternity is.
Lord Jesus, reveal Yourself to them. Let them feel Your presence and Your love.
Lord, help them see Your salvation; help save them; bring them to Heaven before it’s too late.
In Jesus’ mighty name, I pray.
Amen.
If this blog post interested you in the topic of Heaven and Hell… And now you’re considering what you can do to NOT end up in Hell… Well, firstly, as I said above, just believing that Jesus died for your sins and now covers you in His blood and righteousness, get you into Heaven. Secondly, now that you believe, there is freedom in following the ways of Jesus, that can help you lead a more peaceful life. You can find the basics of Christianity in my new book Renew Your Mind — it’s a book that dissects the 12 most common ways we either follow Christ or follow the world (aka the devil).
