Trust The Lord & Obey His Commands

When we are feeling called by God to do something or say something or give something, it is not for our sake at all but always for the sake of another and for the glory of God.

I have heard some of the most ridiculous stories you could imagine about people obeying the Lord’s calling. I’ll share these two with you:

  1. A woman kept hearing from the Holy Spirit to put leggings on under her dress. So she obeyed. Later on she was up on stage speaking, she heard the Lord tell her to do a cartwheel… Good thing she put those leggings on! Afterwards, someone walked up to her and said, “I can’t believe it. God answered my prayer. I told Him I’ll believe in Him if the preacher today does a cartwheel on stage.” Can you imagine it? Had she not listened to the inkling to go put leggings on, she never would have done a cartwheel and that person’s prayer never would have been answered.
  1. This one I read in a book called Altar Ego by Craig Groeschel. It’s a story about an older lady and a young man. This young man felt called to give this older lady at church all of the money he had in his wallet. He opened it up: his last five dollars. He didn’t want to, but he couldn’t shake the feeling that he just had to do it. Embarrassed, he walked over and told the lady he randomly felt the need to give her this money. She smiled and thanked him and said, “I only had enough gas in my car to get me to church, but not back home. I prayed to God about it and He told me not to worry, that He would work it out for me, I just had to come to church.” In listening to that strange feeling, this young man had done the Lord’s work. Afterwards, he got asked to go out for lunch but he had to decline for he was now out of money. However, the friend who asked him said it was on him. The Lord had his back.

I don’t know about you, but I love hearing stories like this, because it really concretes the idea of following and obeying God’s calling… When you hear Him telling you to do something, and you feel it in your soul (your gut), and you DON’T do it, you are NOT obeying the Lord… And then you will never know how God could have used you. (Sometimes you may not know even if you do follow.) But if you DO obey, you may just reap the benefit of seeing how your obeying glorifies God.

So, trust in the Lord, in His Word and in His messages to you. Allow Him to use you for the benefits of others, and for the glory of His Kingdom.

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and He shall direct thy paths.”

God bless.
