Why Does A “Loving God” Condemn His Creation To Eternal Hell If They Don’t ‘Believe In Him’?

You ask: Why does a loving God condemn his creation to eternal hell for not believing in Him?

I ask: why does a loving mother or father condemn their child to the corner or to their room for not following their rules?

Both answers: because the Father loves them so much, that in his love is discipline. He wants his child to be a better person and to follow His commands and so he must condemn them to punishment so that the child may think about their actions.

In the case of God, His nature is also to be just and nothing else. So in His justice He MUST condemn us to Hell, because our bad actions require punishment.

BUT, GUESS WHAT?

That’s why the cross of Jesus is so incredible.

God was so heartbroken over His creation not wanting to follow His loving commands (you know, the ones that help you to live a full and rich life) and choosing to be apart from God rather than with Him, that He made it even easier for people to choose Him…. And yet, people still don’t.

Since the day Christ died on the cross and shed His blood for His creation – since the day He was resurrected from the grave, overpowering death – all one must do is believe this truth. One must say “yes, Jesus died for me, His blood covers over all my sins, and now His righteousness has become mine in the Father’s eyes, allowing God to have mercy on me and be gracious towards me on judgement day. Jesus has saved me from punishment – he saved me from being put in the corner (FOR ALL ETERNITY).”

All we need to believe is that Jesus is like an older sibling, taking on the responsibility of our actions… He’s like the sibling who says “I did it” and takes the punishment, when you and Him both know that it was you who did the bad thing that deserves punishment.

So again, you ask, why would a “loving God” condemn His creation to Hell?

And I say, why would a loving God NOT?

A loving Father would choose punishment that leads to correction, rather than acceptance of bad behaviour that will lead to ultimate corruption.

And so lastly, I ask you: Why do you choose to not believe in Jesus’ sacrifice for your sins?
