The Fire In Our Hearth
As the third book in the “Aveline” Series by Rae Walsh, I was a little disappointed. While the story was great, I wish she had focused a little more on the relationship developing between the two main characters – Daniel and Ani.
This book was about Ani coming to town to help out refugee families get acquainted and settled into Aveline. They were Spanish refugee families who had to flee their home town of Venezuela. The reason they came to Aveline is because the Pastor of the town put in a request to the Refugee Sanctuary, to offer Aveline a place of refuge for these people.
Thus, bringing Ani, an employee of the company helping the families, to Aveline.
And while I wish Rae Walsh would have focused a bit more on the relationship of Daniel and Ani, all in all, it was a great book. It focused mainly on one of the families – the one that Daniel sponsored and Ani ended up helping the most. It focused on this family adjusting and the ups and downs of being refugees and being the people to help them out.
As such, this book was a great read, for it was just a simple story, with not much romance… Which is sometimes nice. So, if you’re looking for just a good story, then this is the one for you.
And just like the other 2 Aveline books, this one continued to sneak peaks within the lives of Katie and Sam (from The Lost Art of Reverie), and Theresa and Sheldon (from A Jar Full of Light). The only thing I’d have to say is that it was extremely sad ending on this book… I wish there were more to come… For I could think of many other characters I’d love to read about! (When you read these books, you’ll know exactly what I mean!)
RAE WALSH, CONTINUE THE SERIES! <3 Haha.
