Failed Marriages Include These 2 Things

The world – and the devil – thrive on failed marriages. The world doesn’t like marriage because marriage is a holy contract between the 2 in love and Jesus Christ. Marriage is a blessing to those who are bonded under our loving Father. Thus, the world tries to destroy it; because the world hates the power that is emitted from 2 people bonded within Christ. And so, the world tries to get us to become adulterers and it tries to get us to believe that divorce is okay.

ADULTERY

“Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.”

Hebrews 13:4

Adultery is one of the most selfish acts that comes straight from the devil. Its repercussions far exceed any sort of pleasure it could possibly bring. It causes pain, confusion, heartbreak, and trauma. It causes trust, faith and loyalty to break within seconds. It brings bitterness, hatred, rage, and causes grudges to be held… And all for what? “Being intoxicated with another man’s wife?” “Embracing the bosom of a wayward woman?” Breaking a divine and godly covenant all for something so wicked and sinful?

In the second book of Samuel, chapter 11, we read of the “reputable” David — the same David that fought Goliath — committing not only one, but many sins all because of his lustfulness. He committed an adulterous deed with another man’s wife and got her pregnant. He then tried to manipulate the man, Uriah, into lying with his wife so that he may never know she had become pregnant by another man. However, Uriah didn’t do so, for he was in battle. And so David told his soldiers to leave Uriah in the middle of battle, so he might be killed (and he was).

David committed two sins: he coveted another man’s wife and then he got the man murdered.

Though this may seem like an extreme example of the repercussions of adultery, it truly isn’t. Though many adulterers will not physically murder the husband of the women they covet, they do murder him in a sense. They murder his spirit, his heart, and his mind. And vice versa with women, as well. When a woman covets another woman’s husband, she murders the woman’s confidence, she shatters her heart to pieces, and she kills any sort of trust and faith in not only humanity but in God as well.

DIVORCE

Satan wants us to believe that when we get married, there is still an option for divorce. While that may be true in the eyes of the world, the only divorce that is acceptable in God’s eyes is due to sexual immorality (Matthew 5:31-32). There are no other reasons.

Have you and your spouse “fallen out of love” and the spark just isn’t there anymore? That’s not a means for divorce. That is a means to seek ways in which to love each other again.

Marriage is not the same as dating. It’s not something that should be ended just because. It is something that two must go into with the certainty that they want to be together literally until death does them part. Otherwise, sin will arise in one’s marriage, and it may just get to the point of sexual immorality. Which would be a shame, because we just learned what happens when one commits adultery…

We must not allow the devil’s schemes to confuse our minds. We must not allow ourselves to conform to this world on the subject of divorce.

Check out my book below, to find out how we can fight the world’s ideas and renew our minds in Christ Jesus… Hint: they way we rebel against the world is by creating godly and holy marriages!
