The Lord Will Never Leave You, Nor Forsake You

Do you know the classic saying that parents use on their kids: “I’m going to leave without you” when their kids aren’t listening to them about leaving?

Yeah…

God doesn’t do this to us. He doesn’t threaten to leave us or abandon us when we don’t listen.

I think so many believe that even if they were to turn to God, God would not be there, ready to accept them, because of all of their evil – and disobeying – they have done. They believe God has abandoned them. But they fail to realize that God is right there; He is right in front of them, hoping, praying, waiting, for His precious child to open his eyes and see Him.

We are God’s precious children. He loves every single one of us. And until it’s too late – until death overtakes us – God is able to redeem us and set us free from eternal death.

God is our Father. Our perfect Father. Our holy Father. Our loving, merciful, forgiving, understanding, compassionate, gracious Father. Our Father does not leave us. He does not forsake us. He holds us with His righteous right hand. He covers us in His grace; in the blood of His son, Jesus Christ. He loves us with an everlasting, unending, eternal love. And He is patient. He waits for His children to turn to Him and obey His Word. He waits for His children to remember who they are and remember that they need their Father to guide them back Home… Because we’re children; we don’t know where we’re going. But our Father does. He knows the way.

We are never too far gone, that God doesn’t know where we are or can’t see us anymore… We are always in His view – the good, the bad, the ugly… He sees it all. And He will forgive you. So long as you repent.

God will never, nor has never, left you. He doesn’t want to leave you, for He wishes to share Himself with you. He wishes to bring you back Home to Him. He wishes for you to share in the freedom and joy and peace and love that He can offer.

God loves you.

Remember: He is the parent, you are the child. He is offering you grace and forgiveness… Will you apologize sincerely and accept His gift of salvation? Will you obey His Word, as your loving Father?

“When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up.”

Psalm 27:10
