Christ offers redemption; a chance to change. He can turn our life story around in the blink of an eye, but He won’t do it until we say yes; until we surrender; until we accept our wrongdoing and come before Him asking for forgiveness and asking for help.
The Man From Nowhere is a story about a father searching for his son and trying to do good with the time he had left in his life.
Herb (father) was diagnosed with colon cancer and given only a few months to live. In his reflection on his life, he knew he was a terrible father, and wanted to do right by his son before it was too late.
So Herb shows up at Jake’s (son) front door, having broken out of the hospital to do so. Jake harbours bitter feelings against his dad for a lifetime of disappointment. But he, of course, takes his father in and is civil, for he knows his father doesn’t have much time.
In this time together, Jake reads one of Herb’s books for the first time – his latest book published. An intimate read, it is his most personal book yet… Based on a father searching for his long lost son.
Filmed in a way to showcase the book Jake is reading, it felt smooth and connected. The story of Jake and Herb and the father and son in the book flowed together with synchronicity…

Sometimes all it takes is a genuine reaching out before it’s too late, to change the course of someone’s life. Just plant the seed and the rest with follow. For Herb planted the seed of Jesus and the Lord did the rest.
Had Herb never shown up unannounced, trying to create a fresh start in their relationship, and using his time left to share Jesus with his son, Jake never would have reached forgiveness towards his father, and he never would have been met with the Word of God.
Herb provided Jake with the opportunity to forgive and let go. Which in turn provided him with the opportunity to change and be redeemed.
In the end, the father found the son, and the son found the Father (Heavenly Father).
