There must come a time in every Christian’s life where their spiritual focus goes from one that is centered on “what God can do for me” to one of just pure obedience and joy from God alone – from His wonderful and good nature.
We focus a lot of our attention still on ourselves as Christians and this focus must change so that our faith never wavers.
In my time of resting in the Lord and in what I’m going to call my “spiritual reset,” I am coming to understand what has been my pitfall in my own faith. My “humanness” has caused me to only see what God can do rather than WHO GOD IS.
God is good. God is holy. God is pure. We must love Him because of who He is. We must obey Him for who He is and not because He can get us into Heaven. If our only focus is getting to Heaven and that’s why we obey… We’re missing the point.
Imagine getting to heaven and Jesus asking, “Who are you?”
Shouldn’t we personally know who our Lord and Savior is? Shouldn’t we know the One whom we will be spending eternity with?
Again, we must simply love and obey God for who He is: good, loving, merciful, kind, forgiving, gracious, faithful, gentle, HOLY, PURE.
